Delete your account

Last updated June 11, 2026

This page explains how to permanently delete your eFone account and the personal data associated with it. You can request deletion from inside the eFone app or by contacting our team. eFone (eFone.app) is a Canadian communications service.

1. Delete from inside the eFone app

The fastest way to delete your account is directly in the app:

  • Open the eFone app and sign in.
  • Go to Settings → Security → Delete account.
  • Confirm the request. Your account is closed and deletion of your associated data begins immediately.

2. Request deletion by email

If you can’t access the app, email [email protected] from the email address on your account, with the subject “Account deletion request” and the phone number on your account. You can also reach us through our contact page. We verify your identity before acting on the request and complete it within 30 days.

3. What gets deleted

When your deletion request is processed, we permanently delete or anonymize:

  • Your account profile — name, email address, password/sign-in credentials and account settings.
  • Voicemail, recordings and any transcriptions stored on your behalf.
  • Contacts, messages and call history held in your account.
  • Device and diagnostic data linked to your account.

4. What we must keep, and for how long

As a regulated telecommunications and VoIP provider we are required to retain a limited set of records even after your account is deleted. These are kept only as long as the law requires and are not used for any other purpose:

  • Billing and tax records — retained for the period required by Canadian tax and accounting law (typically up to 6–7 years).
  • Call detail records (metadata only — numbers, date, time, duration; not call content) — retained for the period required by telecommunications and lawful-access obligations.
  • Records needed to resolve disputes, prevent fraud, or comply with a legal demand.

Once these retention periods expire, the remaining records are securely deleted or anonymized. For full detail on how we handle personal information, see our Privacy Policy.

5. Before you delete

  • If you want to keep a phone number, port it to another carrier before deleting — deletion releases the number and porting afterward may not be possible.
  • Any remaining plan balance or add-ons are forfeited on deletion.
  • Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. To use eFone again you would need to create a new account.
